In 2010, House Rs in Florida combined to win the popular vote by 19. However, Obama somehow won it in 2012.

Romney's abysmal numbers with Hispanics across the board combined with Ryan's unpopular social security policies with the elderly.

It serves as a reminder that midterms do not forecast general presidential elections.

Obama, I believe, actually improved with Cubans compared to 2008 (I’m just going by memory, without looking it up … but there was talk of a generational shift with younger Cubans voting Obama by big margins, which was one of the many reasons Republicans went soul-searching after their loss. So I think he either improved with Cubans or maintained his 2008 percentage)

Ryan's Social security plan hurt GOP with seniors.  Trump's promise to not touch Social Security is big reason he won Florida as seniors lean GOP but messing with social security and medicare is a red line for many.
