Note: The shading of the colors corresponds with the winning margin for each candidate in each state.

Either Don Giovanni or Ronny D won in 2024... but maybe Scranton Joe won't be seen as Carter 2.0?

Biden declines to seek re election and the Democratic donors clear the path for Newsom ala Hillary 2016. Meanwhile Trump keels over sometime in early 2023, giving DeSantis a clean primary victory. The general election campaign is made as a Florida vs. California decision and Florida narrowly wins the general, and that despite Inflation falling and an overall sound economy. DeSantis then has a decision hit early in his term and pushes austerity in response. As a result, the Democrats win big in 2026, flipping the House and Senate decisively. The rest of DeSantis' term remains gridlocked at home while China invades Taiwan sometime in 2027 or 28, with all the geopolitical fallout that comes. The Democratic primary is between popular MI Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Former Vice President Kamala Harris. Whitmer beats Harris decisively everywhere outside of the south, and Whitmer from there chooses Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia to be her running mate. Whitmer/Warnock defeat President DeSantis and Vice President Reynolds decisively in the face of an anemic recovery from the 2025-26 recession and geopolitical turmoil.

It would be a wet dream coming true.

However, I doubt DeSandwich will be factor in 2028 after his embarrassing 2024 campaign. He should have stayed out after Trump announced and back the God Emperor.

DeSantis will be a Major factor in the Republican Party in 2028 even if he doesn't run himself again simply because he's the Governor of the 3rd largest State in the Country nonwithstanding that he is still quite young. Heck, the DeSantis brand in Florida is so popular that his Wife leads a Republican Primary Poll and is the clear Frontrunner if she runs.

Everyone pretty much assumed by running for President the DeSantis brand in Florida would take a hit. Clearly that's not the case.

I could see that. The economy remains unstable but Biden remains unpopular. Trump beats him and gets like 54 senate seats and 230 House seats. He might even pick off one more Hilary state. Then it is basically 2005 all over again. National Republicans try to pick unreasonable cultural war battles ala the whole Schaivo thing or go after evolution or medical research again. Then, you have some sort of big event that put the environment back front-and-center and maybe you get a major humiliation in Eastern Europe or the Middle East. Maybe Republicans do well enough to keep the Senate, but get slaughtered everywhere else in 2026. Very much like 2010 but backwards. Eventually, the business cycle does roll over in like 2027 or 2028. It's really bad.

This is very specific and probably won't happen exactly this way but it does feel like Trump's second term will be just like Bush's.
