With Andy Beshear’s win, do you think that’s a good sign for Josh Stein’s chances in North Carolina next year?

Josh Stein, like Andy Beshear, is a candidate who got his start as a state Attorney General who has a history of winning very close elections, and is seen as pragmatic and broadly appealing. Mark Robinson, like Daniel Cameron, is a Black GOP candidate who enters the election with a lot of baggage and a much narrower appeal, but has the partisan lean of his state working to his advantage.

With Cameron’s loss, I feel more bullish on Stein beating Robinson next year.

It is more likely that every single other council of state office goes R than it is that Robinson wins. I'm serious

I've been notoriously bearish on the North Carolina race for next year, but I do think Robinson is far worse of a candidate than Cameron.

It's not an apples-to-apples comparison since Stein is not an overwhelmingly popular incumbent Governor, but I certainly do feel more positive about Stein being victorious now.

Robinson, like Daniel Cameron, is a Black

So Democrats are winning thanks to racism…

North Carolina is a very different state than Kentucky. But it isn't a bad sign that Beshear had such a good result, at least.

Yes.  Robinson is racist against Black people.  And Democrats do not want that.

Robinson is much more toxic than Cameron and NC is far less Republican than KY. Granted, Beshear was a popular incumbent, but I still think Republicans would need to have a very good year and count on a substantial drop in people willing to split their tickets for Robinson to have a shot.

One fact that I found interesting is that Michelle Obama’s maiden name is also Robinson while Mark Robinson has been bashing her.

Literally nothing to glean from last night can be cast onto NC 2024. Comparing Cameron to Robinson is insulting to Cameron.

This, the dynamics are completely different. Off-year vs presidential turnout, KY is way redder than NC, Beshear was the incumbent while NC is an open seat, and Robinson is much more insane than Cameron. The only real similarities I can see are that Beshear and Stein are both white and Cameron and Robinson are both black.
