Highly unlikely, unless he's running against Daniel Cameron or Matt Bevin (lmao)

He would overperform, but he would have no chance at outright winning lol.

No. He might be the perfect fit for North Carolina though.

No, but he would be a very strong national candidate.

As late as 2008, he'd be favored to win KY. Just not anymore with polarization imo

He would over perform 5-10 points. But Trump won it by 26% points lol

Even Matt Bevin would likely carry KY in that scenario thanks to polarization of national politics

Much as I'd love to see it... nah lol.

He would win states like North Carolina though I think.

No, but we haven’t had a rural state nominee in quite a while.  I think something like 56/42 in an otherwise close election nationally isn’t crazy.

Not against Trump. Though I'm kinda curious what the results would look like if he were to go up against someone like Romney who the MAGA base hates.

I actually think it would depend.  To run nationally Beshear would have to go more left of center and that would alienate a lot of GOP voters that crossed over for him.  So that would mean he lost the state.  If he could somehow maintain a moderate position, though, and not get dragged far to the left on immigration, gun control, and crime then he might have a fighting chance.

It would also depend on who he was facing.  Against someone like Trump he'd have no chance.  But if the GOP nominated someone that had a tough time appealing to rural voters or someone that was just generally weak, then maybe.

Most likely a Beshear candidacy would drive the KY margin down while also faring really well in more purple Southern states like Georgia and North Carolina.  He'd also do really well in Virginia.

Romney ran way to the right as a presidential nominee than as Governor of MA. Don't get me wrong, there is no scenario where Obama doesn't win by 20 points. But Governor Romney was closer to a generic Democrat than nominee Romney

If Beshear ran for president, his presidential campaign would be much closer to his governor campaign when compared to Romney

Yeah, Beshear still loses a lot. But maybe by 10 points instead of 26?

No, but he would overperform Biden and other Dems due to home state advantage. Polarization would kick in.
