For the purposes of this thread, the Eastern Kentucky Coalfield shall be defined as consisting of the following counties:

Bell
Boyd
Breathitt
Carter
Clay
Elliott
Floyd
Greenup
Harlan

Laurel
Lawrence
Lee
Leslie
Letcher
Magoffin
Martin
McCreary
Menifee
Montgomery
Morgan
Owsley
Perry
Pike

In 2019, Beshear won 9 of these counties. He previously won 13 of them during his 2015 run for Attorney General.

He probably won’t win many, but I’m pretty sure at least Rowan goes his way, so 1-5.

I think he holds up much better than expected here. ~5 or so, with Rowan being the only one in certain of.

It should not be zero, cause we got one county in the region that is still left of the state Presidentially. It voted against the abortion ban. But beyond that we have Boyd, a comparatively urbanized county that also almost voted against the abortion ban. So that should be 2, easily. If you think the Beshear coalition is going to be a hybrid of his 2019 map and the anti-ban coalition, like I do, then there's a bunch of uncertainty after that. There's at least 6 more which could be argued either way, if you approach this with the expectation of Beshear winning. So I voted more than 5.

Also, some of these county's voters have identities that have moved beyond the coal era...

Just Rowan.

Ftr posting a text list of counties instead of giving us a map is not cool.

Well, based on officially reported results as of this writing, Beshear appears to have won a total of 11 counties in this region, which exceeds the expectations of all those who voted in this poll.
