OCTOBER 2023 FEDERALIST PARTY CONVENTION
Welcome to Kalamazoo, Michigan

Our Mission: Is the empowering individuals instead of government and the empowering of regions instead of the centralized state. We are committed to liberty and equality for all, and the checks and balances that protect both. We are committed to the preservation of markets and market choice. We welcome all players, both new and old and value their contributions to the game.

I have waited longer than the by-laws have indicated out of respect to our longtime party chair, NC Yankee, in hopes that he would return to being active in Atlasia. Now that it's been four months, it's time to announce the facts of the matter we are facing as a party. As Yankee has made his last posts on June 26th, I as Party Vice Chair, have assumed the office of Federalist Party Chair, effective on July 10, 2023 in accordance with Article II, Section 6 of the Federalist Party bylaws. As the current Chair, I believe it is best to pass on the role to someone who can provide better leadership of the party going forward and can ensure that the Federalist Party can be a vehicle that will advance our principles into the future of Atlasia. Therefore, I am announcing a nomination period for Chair and Vice Chair for 48 hours followed by a 72 hour vote on the new leadership. While I will not accept nominations for either office myself, I shall remain Party Chair until a new Chair has been duly elected.

Quote
6. Leadership Vacancies. Vacancies may be deemed to have occurred if party leaders resign, lose the confidence of the party by majority vote, or have not posted within the Atlasia sub-boards for two (2) weeks or more. In the event of a vacancy in the office of secretary, the chair shall appoint another member to the office. In the event of a vacancy in the office of vice chair, members shall have ample time to declare their intention to run for the vacant position. After that time, the chair shall hold an IRV election for the vice chair position, to last three (3) days. In the event of a vacancy in the office of chair, the vice chair shall become chair of the Federalist Party, unless he wishes to remain in his current position. In that case, an election for chair will be held.

I hereby nominate Rep. Joseph Cao (Senator of the Great Lakes) for the next Federalist Party Chair.

I accept the nomination for Chair.

It seems like just yesterday people were making jokes about writing Yankee into the bylaws as eternal Chair, and he will be the toughest act imaginable to succeed, but I appreciate the confidence vested in this nomination and I fully intend to do my best. Smiley

It's not the right move for me to come back into the party at this time IMO but I believe the nomination of Cao as Chairman is a step in the right direction.

I fourth Cao and I am undecided on the election of the Vice Chair so I would like them to elaborate on why they are running.

The reason I should be considered for vice chair is because I will remain active in steering our party’s future. I’ve served on the ModFed caucus and improved our recruitment numbers in that area. As vice chair, I will support the chair in boosting our engagement and recruitment as well as spur a resurgence of the Federalist Party nationally. Lastly, I’m experienced and proven. I’ve been duly elected multiple times to two regional legislatures, led both the Southern CoD and the Senate.

A vote for Spark is a vote for activity. Let’s do it together.

Seconding the nomination of diptheriadan for Vice Chair.

I've known dip since my entry into the game. He's been a tough fighter on behalf of the party's ideals for many years and articulated his beliefs well as Governor and while leading the Southern Chamber, and I'm confident he understands the importance of balancing party unity and communicating internal concerns to leadership, which he's done quite a bit of in recent months. It would be a pleasure to continue working with him to move the party forward.

I fourth Cao and I am undecided on the election of the Vice Chair so I would like them to elaborate on why they are running.

Quite simply, I'm running because Cao asked me to, and I accepted.

As for why I agreed, I think of this as my way of giving back to the party I've called home now for the better part of seven years. Over the course of my time in the game I have been elected several time the Southern CoD and have been it's Governor on two separate occasions, all accomplishments I wouldn't have made without considerable support from people like Yankee and the Federalist Party as a whole. Even precluding my own electoral history, my understanding of politics and people and life as a whole have been shaped by my time here.

Now especially is an important time in our party's history. With Yankee's absence, we have lost our central figure and founder, and the more than a decade experience he carried with him. We are threatened by a dilution of our party's core principles and internal culture, by turning into 'just another party', when we are not. We are a rallying point for all in Atlasia who are opposed to the centralizing tendencies found in the Capital, who are for individual liberty, economic freedom, and who favor regional diversity over federal tyranny.

To serve a custodian for that rallying point, and to mentor other young Atlasians in the same way Yankee did with me, would be the highest honor I could ever ask for, and I'd appreciate your vote.

Thank you, everyone, I do mean that. Will have more thoughts forthcoming eventually.

For current business we do need to pick our convention city – we missed Frémont this round, so as not to mess up the cycle I am opening up nominations for locations in the South for 48 hours. LT, when you see this could you change the thread title?
