Yeah, so I'm going to record it and watch it later but to be honest with you, I'm not excited to see what happens. Thompson needs to get in as soon as possible.

I wonder if the questions will be anywhere near as biased as Brian Williams' during the Dem debate. I highly doubt it.

By the way, what channel is broadcasting it tonight? I want to watch it.

I agree with Phil ... if Thompson wants to get into this race he'd better hurry up and do it.  If for no other reason than for the fundraising.

As for the debate tonight it will probably be boring and uneventful.  Although I'd love it if Ron Paul suddenly tore his shirt off and yelled "I'M SPARTACUS" in the middle of McCain answering a question.

That would be pretty funny. I do hope Paul does well tonight.

I'm setting the over/under for number of times Reagan's name gets mentioned tonight at 65.

I'm hoping McCain makes a strong appearance, otherwise he may head into the hills, although his campaign is making a comeback this month.

I expect Rudy and Huckabee to kick butt, and Romney to sound well spoken as usual.

The others are just there to be there. Brownback could be decent.

Let's see how well it goes.

It'll probably be as boring as one the Democrat's had.  Although Ron Paul will most likely be the "Mike Gravel" of the debate.

I expect to see Giuliani get his butt kicked.

The fraud has been playing games for month, and expect at least one of the other candidates to nail him on his patent dishonesty.

I wonder if Matthews will grandstand, forgetting that it's not his show.

I'm expecting that the candidates will be going after each other more aggressively than in the Democratic debate.  Giuliani probably won't pick any fights, but McCain may go after Giuliani a little, Romney will probably go after both Giuliani and McCain, and the other seven candidates will all go after Giuliani, McCain, *and* Romney ("Rudy McRomney").

I'm thinking Tancredo is the most likely to go Zell Miller on him. Cheesy

Did any of you see MSNBC's post-debate coverage last week, when Matthews was interviewing Mike Gravel, and Gravel made some comment to Matthews about how "you in the media aren't doing your job", and as Matthews was moving onto the next question he said "you got a little zing against me in your answer", and Gravel interjected "well, you deserve it"?

It will be interesting to see what Gilmore and Hunter have to say in their short answers that might cause the top three to fumble with a counterpoint.  This debate really needs to be 4 hours long and/or less questions asked so everyone has more time to respond.

Matthews (for the third time): "Where have you been for 35 years?"
Gravel: "Hiding under a rock (start of Matthews' laughter) cause I'm so disgusted with Congress."

They should have fewer questions asked, and also narrow the list of topics for each debate.  There's just way too much ground to cover, and the candidates only have time to give thumbnail answers on each topic.  Have a debate on Iraq, a debate on foreign policy issues besides Iraq, a debate on entitlements, a debate on immigration, etc.  That would give you some time for some decent back and forth.

I liked the video that was just shown of all the candidates walking through the library; it was nice to see them interacting with each other, although you do have to wonder what they were saying.

Is it me or do I sense more excitement buzzing around tonight's GOP debates than the Dem debates of last week?

Here is my prediction:  ratings for the GOP debate will be alot greater than for the Dem debates.   just another early warning sign that 2008 will not be a Democratic year
