No. The draft is something that’s only ever justifiable is absolutely necessary. The United States better be seriously threatened—on its on soil—if it’s going use the draft. (And I say that as someone who is obviously not an isolationist who’s coldly indifferent when another country is attacked by an arrogant, next-door bully. I support Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel; the United States should arm them all). In any case, it’s just best that the people who find themselves risking their own lives in combat due to a government order are not individuals forced into the military.

I’d be exempt from any draft anyway because I’m autistic, but should I find myself drafted to fight overseas, I would prioritize my own right to self-preservation over the concept of never breaking the law of my country.

it is more likely that Portland will elect a Republican mayor 5 times in a row than for the US to have a draft to send dudes to fight in Israel
