Amendment To Evergreen-Tmthforu LGBTQ+ Rights Act

Section I: Amendment to the Evergreen-Tmthforu LGBTQ+ Rights Act

The Evergreen-Tmthforu LGBTQ+ Rights Act is hereby amended as follows:

In Section 5.3:

(3) Use of Neutral Pronouns in Official Documents:

a. Amend existing text to read: "In alignment with the principles of inclusivity and respect for all gender identities, all future statutes, resolutions, official documents, and communications of the Republic of Atlasia or its subsidiary bodies shall employ the singular pronoun 'they' when referencing singular persons of indeterminate gender."

b. Remove and replace any references to gendered pronouns such as "he" or constructions like "s/he", "he or she", and similar variants in favor of the singular "they" to ensure clarity, uniformity, and respect.

c. Encourage the revision of existing documents, where feasible and relevant, to reflect this amendment, underlining the Republic of Atlasia's dedication to recognizing and valuing the diverse identities of its populace.

Section II: Enactment

This Act will immediately be in effect upon passage

Current text of the relevant portion of Evergreen–Tmth:

Quote
Section 5. Inclusion in Official Gender Markers

(1.) All official documents issued by any body under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Atlasia that contain gender markers, including but not limited to drivers' licenses, shall be required to require an "other" option for non-binary genders and no requirements to change such markers, beyond regular administrative fees, shall be allowed to exist.

(2.) Congress strongly recommends that all future statutes, resolutions, etc. of the Republic of Atlasia or its subsidiary bodies refer to singular persons of indeterminate gender with the pronoun "they", rather than gender-specific pronouns.

Personally I don't see the point when (2) already does everything in this bill with more conciseness, but if you want to strengthen the language why not just amend that clause directly? That would prevent redundancy.

When has this been repealed?

And is there another act in place?

I note the bill as currently written is still redundant.

It is the PPT's prerogative if he wants to make the motion of course, just odd to me that passing bills seems to take precedent over passing effective bills…

As explained above by TPH, the language you cited was partially repealed in 2022. This adds it back with stronger language. It's unfortunate we were blocked from making the changes more cleanly but the original is strong.

A final vote is beginning.

This bill adds a Section 5(3). It's not "adding back 5(2) with stronger language."

I don't know if the point was to intentionally preserve the lacuna – again, why pass this bill if it has a gaping hole in it when you can very easily fix it by introducing another amendment? I didn't make it to the amendment vote in time, you probably could've gotten me to vote for it.
