McConnell plans to serve out the rest of his Senate term, but given that he’s stepping down as GOP leader in November, I think it’s almost certain that he doesn’t run for another term in 2026.

This gives Daniel Cameron an opening for a political comeback. I expect he’d be the favorite for the Senate seat in 2026.

Don’t think Cameron is a shoo-in for that race after blowing 2023.

I agree that he wouldn’t be a shoo-in, he’ll definitely have competition in the primary. But I do think Cameron starts out as the frontrunner (but that could certainly change - there’s a lot of time between now and 2026).

Yeah in a world he’s still sitting AG and never ran for Governor, he probably would be able to clear the field. But now he’ll have to work for it.

Imagine if Beshear runs. He won’t win but he could be another Bredesen-esque money pit.

MT, TX, KY and ME and NC are vulnerable

Cameron, even though I personally prefer Massie.
Cameron is politically finished after this years Governor Race.

Can't say I am too surprised:

Kentucky Legislature cuts Democratic governor out of picking potential McConnell replacement
