Yup, I think there won't be any candidate left after ST. Potentially even after the early contests. This is going to be a boring primary season as we have 2 candidates running as incumbent and de facto incumbent on each side.

I'm thinking similarly but I'd phrase it as "the GOP wants this primary over and to move onto the general." Now that it's clear and obvious Trump's gonna win anyway why prolong the farce?

Sort of analogous to how the Dems coalesced around Biden right before/because Covid hit, though much quicker there.

The primary is just a formality at this point. I do admire those few who still believe other candidates have a chance absent Trump dying or dropping out. I wish I had the ability to believe the impossible sometimes Smiley
