Funny, isn't it, how the first place the Arab League runs to after a terrorist attack by Hamas is MOSCOW of all places?

it's news worthy.  It's says something about you that you have such a problem with the thread that you couldn't just ignore it and move on with your day.  Any theories as to what that might be?  It would be interesting to hear your perspective.

As far as I’m concerned it’s a loser meeting a loser. No sympathy for the president of the Arab league or the Russian government.

In terms of solving the conflict? Yes, probably this does absolutely nothing. But this could have some consequences on how the involved parties interact with each other going forward.

Pardon me for being pedantic, but it's inaccurate to act like the Arab League is expressly there as the Hamas representative. There's a lot of members of the League that have no part in this conflict either out in the open or covertly.

And Russia prior to at least the Ukrainian conflict were becoming more friendly with Israel as the U.S. was becoming more hostile to Netanyahu, although I'm sure this was just Netanyahu playing for American influence to continue/telling the anti-Israeli voices in U.S. politics to shut up.

The rep is there to probably provide the admittedly fractious opinion of the membership to one of the most powerful countries in the world, seeing as they have 1 of the 5 permanent UN Security Council seats. And Russia way long time ago 8 years settled the Syrian conflict in Assad's favor. I imagine an Arab League representative will likewise be heading to Beijing...and Washington.

I'm sure they're having a nice friendly conversation about puppies, unicorns, and making the world a happier place.

These are the countries part of the Arab League

Libya isn't going to want to go USA, you literally threw that country in chaos and civil war after invading it.

Somalia, well isn't going to like USA too

Iraq... yeah we all know what you've done in Iraq.

Syria... well we all know what you attempted to do in Syria and it failed so Assad is obviously is anti-western

Lebanon is obvious as well, governed by a pro-Syria coalition that includes Hezbollah

Qatar... doesn't like USA either

Saudi Arabia + UAE is only friendly because the west makes them rich, but other than that they all hate you.

Palestine, well just read the Israel-Palestine thread and the general atmosphere in USA... I don't have to elaborate on that.

Yemen and Sudan are both in a civil war as well. In case of Yemen, also while you oppose one of those factions strongly.

I don't think anyone there genuinely likes a western country. They only do so for strategic reasons or because you enrichen them. Ideologically and culturally, you also don't share anything with them.

So if you expect them to go to you first... well... be ready to be disappointed. You are the last ones they'll go to.

The truth is nobody likes you.

Slightly skipping over the part where a civil war broke out because the totalitarian psychopath in charge for half a century started machine-gunning his own people. But sure, it’s all the fault of the (((West))).

Life today in Libya is worse than 15 years ago.

That's true. Would letting Gaddafi massacre tens of thousands of people (and given the tribal dimension to the Tripoli-Benghazi split, probably carry out ethnic cleansing) make today's Libya better?

Good question, same as with getting rid of Saddam, there are a lot who regretted it in the West afterwards.

One has to avoid short term decisions in foreign policy and personal grudges.
