Colson Whitehead is one of four people to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction twice, along with Booth Tarkington, William Faulkner, and Jonathan Updike.

He won for The Underground Railroad in 2017 and The Nickel Boys in 2020. He published five novels and two non-fiction books before that and has published two novels since.
