A family that opposed the Federalists' Brahmin elitism but supported the American System, although the former was more important.

They voted for WHH due to the Panic of 1837 and Taylor because he was a war hero and Pierce and Buchanan because Scott was a nobody and Fremont was too radical, respectively.

As the Civil War approached, they became increasingly opposed to slavery, which together with their economics, contributed to the GOP votes. They voted for Cleveland due to Blaine's corruption but were pro-tariff, although not to the same degree of McKinley.

Just like during Bleeding Kansas, they were increasingly progressive during the early 20th century, thus voting for Wilson twice before getting behind Harding's return to normalcy and the Roaring Twenties under Coolidge. The second factor and possibly Al Smith's Catholicism made them vote for Hoover.

During the Fifth Party System, they voted either for the Democratic nominee or Eisenhower due to being economically interventionist, but Nixon's support for law and order and peace in Vietnam, plus McGovern being too progressive, caused them to support Nixon twice. Watergate made them vote for Carter, but their boomer generation was more economically liberal and as such supported Reagan, Clinton and Bush.

In 2016, the family supported Donald Trump due to Hillary's emails, but turned on him during COVID.
