Because they’re Southern.

Suburban areas throughout the country have continued to trend leftward, even those in the South. Trump 2016 still underperformed Romney in many Southern suburbs, in some cases by a lot (e.g., Atlanta and Houston), and such places only continued their leftward trends in following elections. Since Southern suburbs were more conservative than their Northern counterparts to begin with, it’s not surprising that Trump still dominated such places.

This was mostly inflated by many GOPers supporting Gary Johnson although there were a few who gave Trump a chance before voting for Biden.
