How are suburban voters who backed Bush in 2004 and supported Obama in 2008 different than suburbanites who voted Romney in 2012 but went for Clinton in 2016?

There are a decent amount of suburbanites who fit into both of these categories, as Romney did noticeably (10+ points in some places) better than McCain With suburbanites

Romney/Clinton suburbanites are probably more conservative than Bush/Obama suburbanites because:

- They have switched to voting for Democrats more recently.
- They stayed loyal to the neoconservative Republican Party even after the failure of the W. Bush Presidency.

This is seen in where these voters generally reside. Romney/Clinton suburbanites generally reside in more conservative states such as Arizona, Georgia, and Texas; Bush/Obama suburbanites generally reside in the more liberal Midwest and Mid-Atlantic.

There are a few Bush/Obama/Romney/Clinton counties:

1.  Chester, PA
2.  Montgomery, VA
3.  Watauga, NC
4.  Douglas, NE
5.  Lancaster, NE
6.  Gallatin, MT
7.  Salt Lake, UT
8.  Summit, UT
9.  Whitman, WA
10.  Nevada, CA

Biden won each of these counties in 2020.

A more relevant question for the future might be if there's a difference between Romney-Clinton-Biden and Romney-Trump-Biden voters in well-off suburbs?

Isn't it possible to be part of both groups? I'm not sure why the question is framed like they're mutually exclusive.

Yes, but I'm mainly talking about those who voted Obama in 2008 vs those who still backed McCain then and didn't switch to Dems until 2016.

The Leipverse seems like a community that would be well-acquainted with both types of consistent voters
