There was much talk of him becoming the next Chancellor of the Exchequer, I believe. I'm not sure what came of it.

Unintentionally hilarious I assume.

Only a question of time.

Btw, his name has been the butt of jokes for a while now. Michael Heseltine (the man who felled Thatcher) once made the remark "It's not Brown's - It's Balls!" over a speech Balls had written for Brown.

But I can only imagine what the poor chap must have gone through at school. Chances are the experience turned him into a bitter, vengeful, hate-filled sociopath with a Napoleon complex, which would explain why he went into politics.

Are you really so confident that Balls will be Chancellor? I also heard a lot of buzz about Alistair Darling as the next Chancellor, and it sounds as if Balls is an outside shot.

He won't be the next immediate Chancellor, but he's definitely being "groomed" for the role.

Labour will have to win the next election for that to come to fruition.

It's not like that's impossible or anything, you know. Regardless, he'll be around for a while.

I have a feeling Labour will win. They're basically at the stage now the Tories were at in 1990.
