How come he did better each time he ran as far as Popular Votes compared to other third party candidates who ran more than once for their party?

Because of his own personal appeal... He had charisma and was a strong leader for his cause.

Indeed. Debs had a great ability for connecting to the middle class/lower class. It didnt hurt that there was a bit of a backlash after his arrest as far as the 1912 results are concerned.
