Thank you for the prompt action on this, Mr. Vice President.

I will once again note we are quite far behind schedule with the budget for the five bazillion and sixteenth year in a row, and there needs to be a continuing resolution passed by the end of this month to prevent a shutdown and extend things until we can pass this. Any Senators interested should submit one ASAP.

As per Yankee's budget act, only bills that take effect before August 1st of this year have been included here. As far as I am aware all revenue sources introduced before that period have been included – the land value tax is from the Land Act that Tack signed, the three new entries under "excise tax" were signed by me, and I forget exactly who lowered the corporate tax but it wasn't me. Rough scoring calculations for some of these are included in the spoiler.

Spoiler alert! Click Show to show the content.

Any Peace senators around when Classic Liminal introduced the landlord monopoly bill, which I've linked, are most welcome to help me parse the bill to see how it can be scored.

I would also like to give a shoutout to the President for heroically not adjusting the gas tax in his recent signing and therefore saving me several hours of work tracking down the original gas tax calculations from a budget of at least two resets ago (and apparently lost to time).

Expenditure adjustments are hopefully self-explanatory, but I can track down the bills for anyone interested in a specific entry.

Overall effect on the topline is a big bite taken out of the surplus I passed last year. There are some Labor big spending bills that will phase out next FY however which will balance things out a bit, hopefully.

Besides the need to calculate the Landlord Monopoly Act, is the budget ready to pass or are there other things to consider?

Well, that alone will take at least three weeks going by the Senate's past form on such matters.

I suspect the administration wants to get this over with quickly (which is very strange but whatever) and they haven't let me know about any planned adjustment of tax brackets or the like. Those would have to be independently passed first anyway. But I do want at least one independent check on my math, preferably someone who isn't the PPT.

Well I would prefer to avoid a CR myself. Government functions far better with funding levels known in advance. If there's no substantive reason to create controversy over anything in the budget (and I don't feel there is), it shouldn't be dragged out "just because".

There wasn't a substantive reason for the sixty-one thousand amendments we saw last year, either, and those of us watching the Senate at the time know how that went. Very sad.

Reiterating my call for whoever wrote the landlord bill to pop in and clarify what kind of crazy math they had in mind, by the way! So we can expedite this.

For the information of the senate, the land act (which I wrote) also lowered the corporate tax rate. The reason for this being to somewhat offset the burden created by the new tax, as my intent was to change how revenue is collected moreso than raise taxes with that bill. The corporate tax could be increased back to 25% if needed but I don't think that's necessary when we're projected to have over a trillion surplus.

So uh can we work out some approximation of the Landlord Monopoly Act so we can get this into law? Not interested in voting for another CR.

I have all but bashed my brains out trying to model this thing so I probably am not thinking straight with regard to all the implications of dropping it from the budget.

Friendly.
