What do you think would best explain it?

Reeves seriously blew it, and Cameron ran a good campaign. Louisiana is already a shoo-in to flip at this point.

Democrats nominated an old-school pro-life Southern Democrat in MS who’s basically running as a practicing Christian rather than as a politician against an out-of-touch, scandal-plagued R incumbent; Republicans narrowly beat a D incumbent in KY who veered too close to the national party after barely losing the race four years ago with a horrific opponent who didn’t know how to campaign if his life depended on it, and LA had no Democrat capable of replicating the JBE model.

I’m not saying that all 3 will flip, but I don’t think anybody should be surprised if they did. I don’t really buy the polls showing Reeves and Beshear both winning by high single digits/low double digits and expect undecideds to break R in KY and D in MS.

The Favre scandal really blowing up in MS and the McConnell vacancy issue nationalizing the KY race in the next two months are the only way both states flip in the same night. Otherwise MS is almost certainly voting to the right of KY.
