An African American who voted for McCain and/or Romney over Obama.

A Mormon who supported Obama over Romney.

A Catholic who backed Nixon over JFK.

Regarding item 1, one of my professors from college was an AA woman who wrote an article in 2012 about why she was planning to vote for Romney (and she later worked in the Trump administration).

I've met #2 IRL: remember that Mormons living outside of Utah & Idaho are much less likely to be White or vote Republican.

I've met #2 IRL: remember that Mormons living outside of Utah & Idaho are much less likely to be White or vote Republican.

True, I was pretty sure that example #2 was the most common.

#3 was more common than #1, but Atlasians might be more likely to have met #1, if only because of time distance.

True, I was pretty sure that example #2 was the most common.

#3 was more common than #1, but Atlasians might be more likely to have met #1, if only because of time distance.



I've actually also met so many of #3 that it's not even all that remarkable (my own grandpa on my Mom's side was), it's just that few of them are still around. It wasn't that uncommon.
