I have nothing to really say about this, as I am not actually too knowledgeable about this election. I am inclined to believe that Hayes rightfully won, and that the result was in doubt due to Southern voter suppression against Republicans. But as I don't know the intricacies of what happened, so I am interested in seeing what the consensus here is on this.

We don't know. Large-scale vote fraud operations was quite normal for both parties in the Gilded Age and it seems to have cancelled each other out in 1876. Darcy Richardson in his book on third parties also documented how both Democrats and the GOP in the 1870s and 1880s would steal votes meant for the Greenback Party and mark them as their own.

Hayes

He would have had a clear win in the electoral college and also a win in the popular vote if not for disenfranchisement of Blacks in the South.
