In the scene we just heard about, Sneakers O'Toole defiantly refused to take off his sneakers, even in the face of strong opposition. While his actions may seem trivial, they remind us of the importance of standing firm in our convictions, especially when it comes to our relationship with God.
In the book of Ephesians, the apostle Paul encourages us to put on the full armor of God. Just as Sneakers O'Toole refused to take off his sneakers, we are called to put on the armor of God and stand against the schemes of the enemy. Ephesians 6:13-14a says, "Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist..."
