https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/07/africa-population-triple/

Quote
Africa’s population will triple by the end of the century even as the rest of the world shrinks

Africa will be the only region in the world where population will still be growing at the end of the century.
Given a 48% population decline expected in China, Nigeria will become the second biggest country globally by 2100, behind only India.

Every global region could see their populations decline by the end of the century—except Africa.

The expected population contraction will be due to dropping fertility rates with death rates being either at par with or faster than birth rates in several countries. The varying rates of contraction will be most extreme in countries like Thailand, Japan and Spain along with 20 others, where declines could see their populations halved by 2100, a new Lancet report on fertility and population growth scenarios shows.

But, in sharp contrast, total population in Africa will triple in the same period.

So basically, population in non-African parts of the world is either leveling out or outright declining. Meanwhile, in Africa, population is still going up (at least for now).

Obviously, this means that a larger share of the global population will tend to be made up by people from Africa over time.

And this also means that a larger proportion of immigrants will tend to be immigrants from Africa than before.

What will this do to the political popularity of immigration? I suspect it will diminish the popularity of immigration and there will be a political backlash led by old racists in their walkers and wheelchairs, which could drive further restrictions to immigration in the coming decades.

This will be seen by racist opponents as being worse than the current situation where most immigrants to the US are from Latin America or (increasingly) Asia. And in Europe, immigration will become even more African-dominated due to geographical proximity. And due to sharper population declines in many European countries, the politics of this will be even more fraught than in the United States and Canada.

I also anticipate that AI and robotics technology will continue to advance to the point where younger immigrants are less economically necessary to take care of aging populations, which will further undercut support for immigration in western countries.

No, xenophobic politicians will ALWAYS find a way to scapegoat ANY immigrant group.

Side note, but the title read like a bronz thread

Those population projections are based on extrapolation and can (and likely will) go wrong. Birth rates are much higher in Africa but they're also falling faster there than anywhere else as adoption of contraception spreads and infant mortality falls. Not to mention, sadly, the likely instability and mass death that Africa will bear the brunt of.

Infant mortality falling cause’s populations to rise, not fall.

Yes, this isnt up for debate. Anti-blackness is one of the most common prejuidice in the world with the exception of anti-sentism and homphobia.

African immigrants seem to be more conservative leaning than the domestic blacks so sentiment might actually change. I could see local black leaders lead the fight against african immigrants out of fear of identity replacement.

I actually think it will be more popular as the world develops and income equalizes between countries.

I  can image racists pretend to be feminists, pro LGBTQ, and pro Jew just to justify anti-African and anti Muslim sentiment.

You don't have to imagine, this is a standard European racist position.

Sure, but the Sahel and Central Africa have ludicrously higher fertility rates than the rest of the world; this map doesn't show it, but they also have faster generation times, which also contribute to rapid population growth. 'There will be lots of immigration from sub-Saharan Africa' seems pretty baked in no matter what, even if it's possible to overestimate the magnitude.
