Someone who dislikes the Washington DC political elites and whose main concern is the economy. Voted for DC outsider Clinton in 1992 during an economic slowdown and GOP fatigue; then for Perot in 1996 as Dole wasn't an alternative to Clinton since he has been even longer in DC. In 2000, he thought Gore was too much of a DC-elitist, not that business friendly and too liberal in general.

Possibly a white male in his late 40s/early 50s at the time and a small business owner from New England with moderate views on cultural issues.

Sounds about right.

It's hard just to find people who voted for the major parties in '92 and then for Perot in '96 because of how much his support dropped.

Moderate or Conservative Dem from the Midwest who was angry about Clinton honoring NAFTA. Unclear how this person voted before but probably supported Nixon/Reagan and may have supported Obama in 2008 before becoming part of the GOP under Trump.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some white Southern conservative Democrats who initially backed Bubba, only to become evermore disillusioned by the supposed leftward shift in the Democratic Party. Yet they still couldn’t bring themselves to vote for the party of Lincoln, and thus ended up supporting Perot in 1996. Finally, W appeared and made it clear to such voters that it was the Republicans who shared their values, and the rest is history.
