Trump's thoughts on the report.

Quote
The Georgia Grand Jury report has just been released. It has ZERO credibility and badly taints Fani Willis and this whole political Witch Hunt. Essentially, they wanted to indict anybody who happened to be breathing at the time. It totally undermines the credibility of the findings, and badly hurts the Great State of Georgia, whose wonderful and patriotic people are not happy with this charade of an out of control “prosecutor” doing the work of, and for, the DOJ. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!

Interesting that the numbers for indicting Flynn were the same as people who were indicted, yet he wasn’t. Perhaps he’s flipped again?

Also I’m still surprised Graham wasn’t indicted, given he did almost the same thing Trump did. Unless people think he could successfully argue he was asking “if” it was possible to throw out ballots rather than directing Raffensberger.

What might be the reasons for NOT indicting them?

The senators? It gets into murky constitutional ground since Congress (unlike the President) does have a role in certifying the electoral vote count. The others - some may have flipped, or Willis didn’t think there was enough solid evidence to convict.

Just from more of a layperson, court of public opinion POV, indicting a sitting senator along with 2 former senators kind of adds fuel to the politically motivated charges fire (not saying that's my personal opinion just a thought) I can easily imagine most congressional republicans rallying hard around the flag if Perdue and Graham are indicted; if Fani's goal is to get Trump, keeping him more isolated from the party adds to that vs taking on all of the GOP in the court of public opinion.

He's probably not indicted because of Speech & Debate. He lost on that when fighting the subpoena but he might have been able to argue that and get an acquittal. Trump also has a lot more caulpability than the call.

Yeah I feel like a reasonable jury could just about let Graham off - even if I’d convict.

I get why they didn’t charge Loeffler, Purdue, or Graham, but how the hell did Lin Wood and Michael Flynn not get charged?

In Wood's case, he probably turned state's evidence.

I'm not really not sure about Flynn. Maybe he's facing more serious charges in another jurisdiction that we don't know about?

IMO Meadows had the best case for removal (though still not a great one).  Since he's been rejected, I can't see any other defendants succeeding.

Trump himself seems most likely to succeed there, wouldn't you say?

I would doubt that. The judge ruled that this was campaign activity, and the outer limits of his role as chief of staff could involve referring inquiries to the campaign but that's it. If Trump was doing his job as President by engaging in that call then Meadows was doing his job as COS by setting up the call. But the judge said nope.

I had heard (on air) he was going to decide the sever motions at this hearing but I can't find anything that confirms that.

December 1 is the deadline for pre-trial motions for the other 17 defendants.

Ed Meese?? THAT Ed Meese. Holy heck was it surprising to look up that he's even still alive, let alone engaging in even nominal legal practice at age 91.
