It voted less like a country in Idaho normally would be, especially one that rural.

It contains the Sun Valley ski resort, and votes like most ski resort counties do. As a general rule, when you see a seemingly random Democratic county in the Mountain West, the reason will usually be either tourism, a college, or Native Americans (with the #populist Purple heart strongholds of Silver Bow and Deer Lodge counties in Montana being the only real exceptions I can think of).

Any sort of ski-town is sort of similar to a college town - just so culturally removed from the surrounding areas.

Also Blaine County really isn't that large (population wise). It doesn't take a very large enclave of liberals to make it D leaning.
