This might be the biggest scientific breakthrough of our lives, that will solve almost all of our energy storage problems
A bunch of Korean scientists haved rushed out a paper claiming to have invented a superconductor that works at room temperature and ambient pressure.

Scientists have been rapidly trying to replicate it to see if it work, but if it does this will be the single greatest invention of the 21th century.

Hope it's right but yeah we need replication.

This isn't the Ranga Dias team this is a group from South Korea. Still not all that believable, but it's different people.

Hope this is fake, the last thing we need is more tech that could speed up AI progress.

In what way would a ceramic superconductor speed up AI progress?

It could make quantum computing much, much, much more powerful than it currently is. Maintaining quantum coherency suddenly becomes much easier, allowing longer lived superpositions and much more computational power.

Even assuming that all that is correct and that LK-99 is a suitable material, is there any reason to believe that quantum computing would provide any particular advantage when it comes to neural networks?

Superconductor Breakthrough Findings Replicated, Twice, in Preliminary Testing

This is certainly getting interesting.

Don’t bother trying to reason with Luddites.

Luddism has nothing to do with AI-phobia. The former is a (misguided, but understandable) reaction to technology being used to undermine workers' material conditions. The latter are the deranged elucubrations of bored perpetual-adolescents who watched too much scifi.

Remember LK-99? What an amusing week that was.
