Again, will route through here so we can use the public slot:

SENATE DRESS CODE RESOLUTION

1. There shall be no formal dress code requirement for Senators or members of the public present in the Capitol.

2. No Senate rule shall require women to cover their arms in any formal or casual setting in the Capitol.

3. This act shall take effect immediately.

I thank former senator Classic Liminal for this excellent bill that applies a minimum standard of dress in the Senate. I do recognize that practically, this bill only applies to NPCs, but still believe it to be an important action.

I don't see how a rule preventing women from exposing their arms is somehow negatively targeting women when most dress codes would suggest that men also don't expose their arms.

It's really not that hard to put on a blazer or cardigan if you're wearing a sleeveless top or dress.

I'm not going to vote for any sort of dress code for visitors to the capitol at all. Why should my constituents in Baldwin, Miami Beach, Houston, Detroit or Hollywood have to wear a specific fashion style? As long as they don't show up naked, I don't give a damn what they wear.

This already is a dress code, the expectation to not show up naked. It also says

Quote
No Senate rule shall require women to cover their arms in any formal or casual setting in the Capitol.

which basically eliminates specific dress code here. And that's what the law intends to do. I however don't think there should be an expectation for business casual dressing.

Proposing amendment

Naked would still not be possible given rules from outside the senate would still apply. It's illegal to be naked in streets or shops too, so it would by definition be illegal in the senate as well.

business casual is such a meaningless term can mean anything from a polo shirt and pants/shorts or a suit without a tie.
