Quote
Tony Bennett, the eminent and timeless stylist whose devotion to classic American songs and knack for creating new standards such as “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” graced a decadeslong career that brought him admirers from Frank Sinatra to Lady Gaga, died Friday. He was 96, just two weeks short of his birthday.

Publicist Sylvia Weiner confirmed Bennett’s death to The Associated Press, saying he died in his hometown of New York. There was no specific cause, but Bennett had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016.

Sad news, but his was a long life well-lived. It's extraordinary how many generations enjoyed his music throughout his life. May he RIP.

Great music, and great voice even-up to the very end of his life.

Very sad to hear.  If I was a drinker, I'd be having a martini or something right now, in his honor.

And we all "left our hearts in San Francisco" today.  Sad

As legendary as a WW2 vet as he was a singer. It’s so sad to know the Greatest Generation will all be gone in my lifetime. RIP.

ugh, does the fact that I never heard of Tony Bennett until now mean I'm a bad American?

RIP
