The last time every single state in the country shifted in the same direction was 1976. Since then, every election featured a mix of leftward and rightward shifts across the states.

Even big victories, such as 1992 and 2008, feature states that buck the national trend. In 1992, Iowa shifted rightward. In 2008, the Upper South shifted rightward.

When will be the next time every single state shifts in the same direction?
