The massive protests, strikes, and successful Bwa Kale movement is seen as a threat by Joe Biden

Haitians Protest UN Occupation and Pending Foreign “Intervention”
Ann Garrison, BAR Contributing Editor  19 Jul 2023

Haitians Protest UN Occupation and Pending Foreign “Intervention”
Haitians protest oligarchic rule, UN occupation, and foreign military "intervention."

The US and Canada have been arguing for a multilateral military intervention in Haiti led by the army of a third country, possibly even Rwanda, to support the puppet regime that they installed. They are using “gang violence” as the racist excuse, but there are actually more gang killings in other Caribbean nations such as Jamaica. In fact, the people of Haiti have been protesting in the streets to get the UN and the Core Group out of Haiti and get the US to stop supporting the illegitimate, unelected prime minister, Ariel Henry.

I spoke to Haiti Action Committee activist Seth Donnelly, a public school teacher who has traveled to Haiti over 20 times since the 2004 coup that removed President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

ANN GARRISON: Seth Donnelly, can you tell us what you see going on in Haiti?

SETH DONNELY: Yes, absolutely. The current situation is one of a neocolonial dictatorship, installed primarily by the United States, under the UN occupation.

AG: That's the UN mission that the UN Security Council renewed on July 14, right? Not the foreign military force that the US and Canada are pushing for.

SD: Right. So since the US-orchestrated coup in 2004 against President Jean-Bertrand Aristide and hundreds of other democratically elected officials at all levels, Haiti has been under occupation. And within that context, in 2011 the US installed the current regime that is in power in Haiti, that of the Haitian Tèt Kale Party (PHTK).

When I say installed, there's extensive evidence that Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State, literally intervened , went to Haiti and maneuvered Michel Martelly into power after US-sponsored elections that were already fraudulent, given that the the largest political party in the country, Fanmi Lavalas, wasn’t allowed to participate.

Martelly is like the godfather of the PHTK, a very right-wing powerbroker connected to the Haitian oligarchy. He handpicked a successor, Jovenel Moise, who took power after more fraudulent US-sponsored elections in 2016.

Readers may know that Jovenel Moise was then assassinated in the summer of 2021. Based on the evidence that keeps being unearthed, this was quite possibly a US-backed assassination involving elements within the PHTK, including the current US-backed, unelected prime minister, Ariel Henry.

So under this current Ariel Henry regime, we have seen a proliferation of massacres carried out by the police and what US media calls gangs. They're more accurately understood as paramilitaries, heavily armed paramilitaries, many of which work closely with the police, such as the G-9 Federation, led by the ex-police officer, Jimmy Chérizier, popularly known as “Barbecue.” A few notorious examples of such massacres include the 2018 Lasalin massacre (see this video ) and the 2019 massacres in the Tokyo and Site Vensan (Cite Vincent) neighborhoods. The Harvard Law School International Human Rights Clinic documented this pattern in its 2021 report “Killing with Impunity: State-Sanctioned Massacres in Haiti.”

These paramilitaries and the police have laid siege to popular neighborhoods of resistance to the regime. They've destroyed them, burned down houses, and massacred men, women, and children.

AG: And what has the International Monetary Fund been doing amidst all this?

SD: The PHTK regime has loyally implemented IMF dictates. For example, removing the fuel subsidy . And that has resulted in cost-push inflation, which has created the worst hunger crisis in Haiti in many generations. Over half the population is now suffering from extreme food insecurity and malnutrition. Children are once again eating mud cookies. By March 2023, a record 4.9 million people were experiencing acute hunger, nearly half the population. Haiti’s food inflation is among the highest in the world, increasing by 48% between February 2022 and February 2023.

What’s worse is that the US has to go all the way to Africa to find foreign mercenaries

Kagame and Other Stooges Do U.S. Bidding in Haiti

Kagame and Other Stooges Do U.S. Bidding in Haiti

The U.S. is committed to invading Haiti but needs Black “leaders” to give them cover. They pressured Caribbean nations to be the face of intervention and called on Rwanda’s Paul Kagame to be the African diaspora front man.

It can be argued that Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame is the Black head of state most useful to the U.S. and its allies. There are many human tools in their box but Kagame is the most willing to act on behalf of the collective west. He can reliably be called upon to enthusiastically do the dirty work of the U.S. and Europe. When he arrived at the recent CARICOM summit it was clear that a terrible plot was being hatched.

When the United Kingdom wanted to stop the flow of asylum seekers they hatched a plot with Kagame, giving him $180 million to take them to Rwanda against their will. UK courts have blocked the plan thus far but it is an example of how he always makes himself of service. The UK is not alone in paying him off. Denmark has also been in talks with Kagame to take in refugees too.

In 2014 Rwanda concluded a secret agreement with Israel to take in its African refugees. Some 4,000 were sent to Rwanda between 2014 and 2018 but most of them left that country when they were left destitute and without legal status. The only difference with the UK is that their sordid deal was made out in the open.

When Caribbean countries balked at being the face of the Haiti invasion the U.S. turned up the heat and turned to the Rwandan president. Who better to join the effort to put a Black face on the latest Haiti invasion plan? He is as the old saying goes, the Head Negro in Charge in the treachery department and a natural for this particular mission.

Kagame and Kenya’s president William Ruto have already said they will send police forces to Haiti. It is common sense to ask why East African leaders would want to play a role in Haiti, a nation so far away from theirs. They have done so at the behest of the U.S., the U.N., and the Core Group nations of France and Canada. All of these parties choose Haiti’s leadership. The “prime minister” Ariel Henry is unelected and unaccountable. He is in his position precisely because he does not represent the Haitian people, but instead the interests of nations that want to control Haiti.

Crime is down thanks to direct action against the gangs and the government is illegitimate, why does Biden give support to dictators?

In terms of why the US supports authoritarian regimes, the answer is rather simple: as long as said regime gives substantial financial benefit to our country and/or its elites, they will earn the support of the US government (In fact, according to some reports, the US is actively supporting about 73% of all nondemocratic regimes around the world.).

Having vigilante mobs going around killing everyone they suspect of being gang members isn’t a long term solution.

I am absolutely oposed to having any foreign troops in haiti, at least under the current paradigm of having them prop up the corrupt government, that said calling it a "neocolonial dictatorship" is reaching way too far, I doubt run down infrastructure and gang imposed internal trade barriers are part of multinational capital's plan to expolit Haiti. I guess supporting the unelected Ariel Henry as president is bad, but well where is all the profit that has been extracted from Haiti in it's run down state?

Leftists are funny. The UN is the ultimate authority on anything and everything concerning to Israel-Palestine or any US foreign wars in the Middle East but are 'neocolonial' occupiers (whatever that means) when it comes to Haiti.

Anyway, I think the UN/US/Canada/other countries intervening in Haiti is unnecessary and futile. With that said, the current situation exists because Aristide's former ally (Guy Phillippe) who was a national police commander but also a drug smuggler behind the scenes turned against Aristide and led the 2004 coup with support from the Dominican Republic. Guy Phillippe is actually considered a criminal in the US.

PSOL truly thinks that Haiti would be a worker’s paradise now, if only the vigilante gangs who stomp people to death (who in no way form a single cohesive group) had full control. His ramblings are best ignored.

Why are you guys engaging with a post that's just a huge copy+paste from Black Agenda Report, the far-left conspiracy nonsense drivel website of Jill Stein's lunatic VP, Ajamu Baraka?

The fact that it was posted by PSOL alone should be sufficient evidence that you have nothing to gain and everything to lose by engaging seriously with this content.  But for real, you've just been tricked into the online equivalent of doing a debate with RFK Jr.

Next week I'll be posting one of those 3-hour long anti-vax gish gallop videos and can't wait for you all to watch it and discuss it in earnest.

Reading these weird leftie conspiracy websites must be an unusual sensation. One is constantly depressed that all these "workers" are being oppressed by "neocolonial occupiers" in whatever benighted part of the world and yet one is constantly elated that the revolution is just around the corner Comrade.

I'd say that reading them rots the mind but then I remember that there's some people who read "manga" and "fanfics".

I think in many cases it is still valuable to correct the record with facts, even if the original information provided is obtained from a conspiracy theorist website. But maybe you are right, sometimes it is better not to feed the trolls.

You do not owe these people the mental energy required to concoct a respectful, thorough, well-thought-out response that debunks them.  He spent thirty seconds copy+pasting some drivel that deep down even he knows is bulls--t.  Don't reward him for that with thirty minutes of your time.  Just point out that this source is totally discredited, insult and degrade him for being an idiot and posting it, and move on with your life.

No one actually provided the rebuttal to the article’s information, which is entirely factual on how past interventions fail and how this upcoming one will too and the noticeable decline of gang activity in Haiti now that the illegal gangs and cops are out of the neighborhoods.

But please go on about conspiracy sites and muh Jilly, great counterpoints shills.

There is something to be said about how IMF demands can destabilize countries. Not too long ago the IMF required the Egyptian president to lower or get rid of fuel subsidies for poor people. I wonder what Egyptian people will do if they can't afford life necessities...
The IMF's doctraine market vision doesn't fit everywhere. If that is impacting the situation going on in Haiti...well...
