What's your guess of the 2016 election outcome with NY Gov. Eliot Spier as Dem nominee? Say the scandal never happened and he won reelection in 2010 and 2014.

What makes you believe he would have been so weak, even without the prostitution scandal?

Easy to stereotype as a coastal elitist, little name recognition, damaging primary fight with Clinton and Sanders, most of his accomplishments would be controversial nationally, like issuing an executive order directing that state offices allow illegal immigrants to be issued driver's licenses. Not to mention Troopergate, where he used state police for surveillance.

Without the scandal, with two (2) solid terms as NY Governor, Eliot Spitzer would have been a national hero.  He was the guy who took on Wall Street at a time where people were down on Wall Street, and justifiably so. 

Spitzer should not have resigned.  He should have toughed it out, but he also should have dealt with his problem, which I'm not sure that he did.  He would have been a better Governor than any of the people that came after him.
