Johnson won them, but I think it was a much closer race. College graduates were overwhelmingly white and on the higher end of the income scale in 1964.

The Gallup poll estimated LBJ won 52% of the college-educated vote nationwide. Regional variations would matter a lot though - it's absolutely certain that he did better than that in the Northeast.
