Some town in Texas votes early in the morning.  As a tradition.

Really?  This is something I assume would be set by state law.  I also think that if everyone in the state didn't have the same voting hours, it might be an equal protection violation similar to that alleged in Bush v. Gore.

Don't the good folks in Dixville Notch, NH, vote shortly after midnight on Election Day?

I know that the first votes that trickle in (the first 2-5%) usually show a Republican trend.

Yes they do. Back in 2000, I was watching a Monday Night Football game and Dennis Miller just had to make his projection based on that one town's vote.

If the first results are indeed from IN and KY, we can expect an early Bush lead in the PV and EV;  FL and NH will probably be too close to call, while VT goes to Kerry.
