How would you describe a WWII veteran who was a loyal Republican in every election, but voted for Al Gore shortly before their death in 2001??

Right-wing Jewish voter from St. Louis or Cincinnati who burned through his savings and was living on Social Security who wanted to make history with Lieberman and was shocked by the last-minute news about Bush’s DUI

East Tennessean who agreed with Dole's assessment of Clinton as a baby boomer "who never grew up, never did anything real, never sacrificed, never suffered and never learned", but voted Gore out of state pride and because he also thought little of Bush until rallying 'round the flag after 9/11.

That would make sense, especially given social security was a big deal.

Don't forget that W. Bush touted that he would keep us out of International peacekeeping. Gore was the more hawkish candidate at the time. This veteran would probably have supported McCain in the Republican Primaries that year.

Dubya prefers destroying countries to nation building.

Exactly. He seems like he would have appealed more to this veteran than W ever did.
