(Note: Democrats can vote in this too Smiley )

In 1912 President William H. Taft was challenged by former President Theodore Roosevelt and Wisconsin Senator Robert LaFollete for the Republican Nomination.

In the race Taft (though he busted two times as many trusts as TR) was seen as the Conservative nominee. Roosevelt and LaFollete were the two progressive Republican Candidates. Although he thought of running, Massachusetts Senator Henry Cabot Lodge denied to run.

Who would you vote for in the 1912 Republican primary?

TR was a good president, and the most lively by far. Once the French diplomat to the U.S. went on a hike with TR, and it was so grueling he told Teddy, "I would now like to lay down and die."

About the e-mail, I have a new e-mail address paulforhoover@hotmail.com

Could Dave make maps of the 1912 Republican primaries?  I'd like to see them.

Do you have any idea how difficult it would be to obtain that information?

Primaries didn't mean much for TR since he never got the GOP nomination. However, he got the last laugh some would say. His newly formed Progressive Party ended up winning more states than the Republican candidate, Taft.
