How would he have done as a Senator in Texas instead of Vermont?

He'd lose by double digit margins, lose in the Rio Grande and only hold his own in Austin, El Paso, San Antonio and idk where else. Lean R -> soft Safe R.

Bernie is too left wing for Texas, hell he's too left wing for any state in the tilt, lean or soft likely D category.

He might’ve won in a different era. Jim Hightower was sort of the Bernie before Bernie and he might’ve won again in 1990 if an ex-conservadem (future gov Rick Perry) wasn’t the nominee. However today Bernie would’ve been slandered as a communist and besides Austin and maybe a few low population counties in the panhandle, he’d likely underperform Biden in every county, in some by double-digits and lose in a landslide as a result.

Somehow Jim Crow Texas elected Ralph Yarborough who voted for all the civil rights bills. But they probably wouldn't have gone for a Jewish CORE chairman.

Crash and burn since Texas isn't as accepting of 3rd party runs, he'd probably not even be blip against Barefoot Sanders.

We are talking about is Liberty Union record when he first ran, right?

He would have a decent chance of making it out of the primary, but in the general I don't think he would do good due to his left-wing policies that are not inline with most Texan voters. Due to this, I think he would lose by 5-10 (maybe more depending on how competent the Republican nominee is) points.
