2024 HYPOTHETICAL: Joe Biden (D) vs. Rachael Maddow (R)

MSNBC host Rachael Maddow has described herself as an Eisenhower Republican. What if, in some hypothetical reality, Rachael Maddow took this label seriously and ran in the GOP primary as a progressive and won the GOP primary.

Assume some basic rules:
- Rachael Maddow does not shift rightward on policy (i.e. she does not pull a Mitt Romney).
- Conservatives do not form a third party to prop a true conservative.

How would Rachael Maddow, as a Republican, do against Joe Biden? Discuss with maps!

Here is what I think:

1) The Democratic heartland (DC) and the Republican heartland (the states that have voted Republican in every election since 1968) will stay with their respective parties. No candidate has flipped these states/districts in over half a century.



2) More wealthy states would probably go for Maddow, and more working-class states would probably go for Biden. Maddow, being a news anchor for a cable news organization, would be seen as part of the elite, turning off working-class voters.
