“America remains a center-right nation on a host of cultural and political issues,” said pollster John Rogers, who led this month’s survey. “Most Americans think it is inappropriate for government buildings to display the pride flag. Sixty-two percent of voters say that the LGBTQIA+ movement has become too extreme, and that includes 57% of Americans under the age of 45 and six-in-ten Independents."

Instead of straining so hard to criticize the pollster in so many threads, just make it clear for everyone: your opinion is that every poll that has a result that you don’t like must be biased and / or low-quality

Cygnal only does work for Republican or conservative clients, literally look at their write-up or the polls they've done in the past. Their public polls have also skewed GOP in the past as well; look no further than their MI-GOV polls last year which badly underestimated Whitmer/Dems.

Center-right is the typical position of the Republican Party about 50 years ago. America has no significant constituency for the Far Left, but it has one for the semi-fascist or fascist (your taste) Right. The Hard Right sympathizes with lawlessness on behalf of Donald Trump while the Democrats have shown little sympathy for criminal offenders beginning with the Obama Presidency. Programmatic liberals have come to largely accept that criminality is more a consequence of bad character than of economic deprivation; a 'community activist' like a fresh-out-of-college Barack Obama found out that there were people to trust and people not to trust even in the nastiest of American slums. Know a community well enough and you learn quickly who the pimps, pushers, and perverts are.

Obama learned that the Armed Forces, law enforcement, and the intelligence services could be useful. So you don't bait them on their past, but you have them on a leash. Obama may have been re-elected over the dead body of Osama bin Laden, which was possible only if he could find when the CIA and Special Forces were able to 'ventilate' the mastermind of 9/11. President Biden did much the same with Ayman al-Zawahiri, the #2 man of al-Qaeda.

Donald Trump acted more like a Mordred (Arthurian legend) or a Hagen (Nibelung saga) than anyone that we have ever known as President. Such has manifested itself in blatant misdeeds that the GOP cannot shake off quickly.

So on what are the likes of Obama and Biden different from someone like Nixon? Opposition to tax cuts targeting the super-rich as benefits?  Labor-management relations? The environment? The usefulness of Big Government in job-creating infrastructure? It was Ronald Reagan that turned the GOP far to the Right on those, and the GOP is locked in place on those. With Reagan and Bush I the GOP remained hard-line on national security and law enforcement. Trump threw that away.

Oh -- so Democrats are more sympathetic to LGBT rights... well, that has become mainstream very fast, and indeed much faster than civil rights for Southern blacks. On the rule of law, Trump threw away the concept of stare decisis, the principle of jurisprudence that recognizes the validity of legal precedent as a bar to contradiction of decided law on behalf of political convenience.

The mainstream tends to become politically conservative as people find that they have a stake in the political and cultural mainstream. If the Left is generally understood to be Marxist-Leninist, then America has very little of that. On the other hand America has a political plague akin to those of right-wingers in a bunch of others: religious bigots and fanatics, racists, and fascistic corporatists. These have chosen, in general, an all-encompassing program seeming to answer all questions once and for all, including who is to enjoy great privilege and who is to endure it. Such is practically Mussolini's definition of totalitarianism, a word that he coined.

Conservatives at best stand for old virtues already settled. Culture and science may not be settled, and sane conservatives recognize such. But deny the Divine Right of kings, determine that academic freedom shall be the norm, establish a republican form or at least style of government, assert religious liberty, abolish slavery, grant women the vote, decide that workers have the right to challenge corporate power, repudiate military expansionism, greatly constrict child labor, achieve universal education, and protect the environment... and the conservatives offer something worth preservation from dangerous and destructive extremists and provide a coherent condemnation of fascism and Bolshevism. Abortion rights? Abolition of Apartheid or Jim Crow practice? LGBT rights? Likewise.
