How would Trump have done in a GOP primary where they used superdelegates and had no winner take all contests?

I highly doubt he would have ended up being the nominee with democratic delegate rules — but it also hinges on perception.

Trump crushed on Super Tuesday and won a vast majority of states, reality is most of them were proportional with thresholds (usually 20%) however the media gave him a huge boost that night in almost never mentioning it.

One of Trump’s competitors (Marco Rubio) was gravely wounded by missing the statewide threshold in TX and AL, as a direct result of another establishment candidate syphoning just enough votes that would have gone to him (in VA Kasich outright cost Rubio a win statewide)

The party would've internally developed a much friendlier and less fractious culture, I think, such that the 2012/2016 fields would've been totally different. Neither Romney nor Trump could've won under the Democratic system, but no one would ever try to run a similar campaign on the Democratic side, either.
