Bandit the 'Support-Cat' provides assistance to her owner Anthorr to get out of the house as he deals with anxiety and PTSD.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-06-05/assistance-cat-bandit-helping-owner-deal-with-ptsd/102438742

Bandit in the ABC Canberra studios while Anthorr was being interviewed. (Facebook: BanditandBoat)

"Anthorr says Bandit now goes with him everywhere, including to folk festivals, live music venues, museums, shops and cafes.

Anthorr even documents some of their adventures on social media under the handle BanditandBoat.

He said Bandit did not only encourage him to get out of the house, but also helped him to start conversations in public."

It's generally not advisable to own rodents and cats.

In all seriousness no. This woman was suffering from severe PTSD/anxiety and while I struggle with the latter, it’s nowhere near the extent such a measure would be neccesary.

No, but I wouldn’t mind a support car. Maybe a Karmann Ghia. Something that would look cool, but not break the bank.

As someone who suffers terrible animal dander allergies, I find this to be a concerning development. I'm allergic to all cats and some dogs. Yesterday at work I had to excuse myself from a meeting because someone brought their support dog that was shedding all over the place -- hair flying through the air. As my eyes started swelling shut, I simply left the meeting. Which was a welcome development in certain ways...

I’m not fond the the proliferation of dog-friendly workplaces either. (I get it for service animals)

Emotional support animals have gotten out of control.  Also, having a pet doesn't make you a parent.

I'm hearin' ya.

The allergy dogs run around the Office and lick every single employee whilst the owner waits for the females to admire him. I detest it as well.

I can literally flair up with allergies from one dog contact. It has to do with the level of dust mites and other creatures living on the dog.

The dog owner "care factor" is usually zero.

I could probably use one, largely to calm down the stresses brought on by my normal cat.

I'm moving soon, and was hoping to get a cat after I did but it looks like sadly I'll be in a pet free building. I was looking forward to some companionship so I might just need to bite the bullet and get a Japansese Robot Penguin or maybe just the headless cat pillow
