Since 1992, the Democratic presidential candidate has won every single county in MA during every single election. In the most recent presidential election, Biden won every county in the state by double digits; MA is clearly a solidly Democratic state.

However, Republicans do well in some parts of the state; many municipalities in Worchester County and Cape Cod vote Republican, for instance. Plus, Republicans have come close to winning certain counties in MA; Plymouth County, for instance, was decided by single digits from 2004 to 2016. Will there be a Republican candidate with a strong enough Northeastern appeal to win a MA county outright in the future? If so, when?

If I had to pick a specific presidential election for this I would probably say 2032 at the earliest. I think it's likelier that the D's will flip counties in both of the fully red states first. As you pointed out Biden won by double digits in all of the MA counties in 2020, while Trump only won Oklahoma OK and Monongalia WV by one or two percent.

Pretty sure it won't be Trump or an avowed Trumpist who pick up an MA county in any case.

Elizabeth Warren lost a county during her reelection bid, so it’s entirely plausible it could happen within the next 10 years (though 2024 is very unlikely).
