Favorites: Labor Day (nice 3 day weekend at the right time) followed by New Year's (that week between Christmas and New Year's is a godsend) and Thanksgiving (just because it's 2-3 days off and a slow week guaranteed overall).

Least favorite: President's Day and Veteran's Day just come at odd times and don't really do anything. Though maybe I'm biased because those are the 2 holidays my work doesn't really observe.

Favorite:  Christmas
Least Favorite:  New Year's Day.  I can understand some mild observance of the beginning of a new year, but a federal holiday seems like too much (surely we can celebrate this the same way we do Valentine's or Halloween?)

I actually like that we added Juneteenth. It slots neatly in between Memorial Day and Independence Day and really helps “round out” the federal holiday calendar. What’s more American than celebrating the abolition of slavery and the ability for us all to live in freedom?

My most favorite holiday personally is Christmas, but I don't think it should be a federal holiday so I voted Juneteenth.

Favorite: Thanksgiving, by far the American holiday that has been adopted by my family the hardest. It might be the single day of the year that we're likeliest to spend together.

Least favorite: MLK Day; in addition to seeming very contrived, MLK himself seems flawed enough that having a holiday for him specifically seems odd. (One could make much the same criticism of Washington's Birthday/Presidents' Day, which has many of the same flaws; I think MLK Day is more egregious but fundamentally Presidents' Day has the same issues). (OTOH, I think Juneteenth arose organically, celebrates an unambiguously good historic event, and has every right to be a federal holiday. Columbus Day is maybe a questionable name but many other countries on the American continent have a holiday on the same day celebrating the initiation of contact between Europeans and Native Americans, from which our modern societies descend, so while I think the controversy there is justified something very similar to what it is now should be kept.)

Everyone showing up to work hungover or not showing up to work at all would be a disaster. It's a holiday for good reason.

Anyway, I agree with the consensus: Christmas is the most fun and nostalgic holiday, while Columbus Day doesn't even celebrate US history and a lot of non-federal workers don't even get off for it.

Christmas because a majority of businesses are closed and its one guaranteed day that most people have off each year.

Favorite: Christmas

Least Favorite: Going to say Washington's Birthday because I feel like of all of the options it is the least likely to be day off for me.
