Simply put, this piece of legislation renames three bridges in the New York City Metropolitan Area.

The Tappan Zee Bridge would be named after Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a Senator in the former United States, and longtime bureaucrat in the former United States.

The Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, would be named after the late New York Yankees owner, George Steinbrenner, who was instrumental in giving the Yankees their modern era of success.

The Throgs Neck Bridge would be named after lawyer William Shea, who was instrumental in the creation of the New York Mets.

Object. If we are seeking to rename these iconic bridges (which, in the case of Tappan Zee I oppose), I believe there are far better options available than two baseball magnates. As for Moynihan, the recently-completed train hall in NYC bearing his name is more than suitable, in my view.
