ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT

A RESOLUTION.

Whereas, the Constitution provides that the Senate “shall have the sole Power to adopt and try Articles of Impeachment” and that civil officers of the Republic of Atlasia  “shall be removed from Office and disqualified from any office under the Republic of Atlasia for a period not exceeding two years" on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors; and

Whereas, Mr. Reactionary, Senator of the Republic of Atlasia, has in fact committed a multitude of high crimes and misdemeanors in blatant disregard to the laws of Atlasia and his oath of office;

Be it resolved, that Mr. Reactionary, Senator of the Republic of Atlasia, is hereby impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors and is hereby subject to all constitutional penalties prescribed by the Constitution and that the attached articles of impeachment be exhibited to the Atlasian Senate; and

Be it further resolved that these articles of impeachment exhibited by the Senate of the Republic of Atlasia be in the name of itself and of the people of the Republic of Atlasia, against Mr. Reactionary, Senator of the Republic of Atlasia, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Article 1: ACTS OF TREASON

In his conduct while being Senator of the Republic of Atlasia—and in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of Senator of the Republic of Atlasia and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the Republic of Atlasia, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, Mr. Reactionary engaged in high Crimes and Misdemeanors by Abusing The Power of his office by violating SB 2017-065.

Before I agree to impeach, I would like to see any evidence presented which may support the allegation that Senator Reactionary committed treason as supporting secession does not make one guilty by itself.

If it weren't for Mr. R, I never would have known about this plot in the first place. His 4D chess games made less sense over the time. The Dutch van der Linde to my Arthur Morgan.

Mr. R is a great friend, and I do believe he's one of the best legislators in the game. Both Fremont and Lincoln adopted many of his ideas.

But I can't condone people who choose to leave the game this way. Reactionary is and always will be my friend  (to the chagrin of many) but he chose to play a different game and there are consequences to that. Moreover, he's told me that he doesn't care because he said he's not in Atlasia anymore.

I will very reluctantly vote in favor of the articles.

R is perhaps the most interesting case, as he tried (and failed) to play all sides in this. Say what you will about the Young Texan, but at least he was open and honest about his seditious desires from the get go.

The Senate shall have the sole power to adopt and try articles of impeachment. No articles of impeachment shall be adopted without the concurrence of three-fifths of the voting Senators. The Chief Justice shall preside over all trials of impeachment save when the impeachment is against a sitting member of the Supreme Court. No person shall be convicted on any article of impeachment without the concurrence of two-thirds of the members of the Senate. In all cases, the penalty for conviction shall be removal from office and disqualification from any office under the Republic of Atlasia for a period not exceeding two years.
