Being found guilty for battery and sexual assault is not a “nothing burger”. What a terrible thing to say.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if Biden or Obama were the accused.

I just want to point out the irony of the fact that Trump's record -- hell, even his social media record alone probably -- would be enough to get him barred from working at McDonald's.

Yet half the country wants him to be the most powerful man in the world with access to the nuclear codes (again).

Utter insanity.

Probably all those with bad social media records.

It was theoretical that at some point they become a majority.

I made a post long time ago that if you look at the rules of this very forum, Trump probably wouldn't be allowed to post, even with the huge leeway that rightwing posters are given on here.

Now that we can already know.
The reaction would be to dissmiss it, and here is why:

Democrats got bamboozled by the Bush people to dump Gary Hart over a fake sex scandal.
So when Bill Clinton got accused in 1992 no Democrat cared, they wouldn't fall for it twice, I know I didn't.
And when Biden was accused in 2020, again no Democrat cared.

Same story on the Republican side.
The Romney people created a fake sex scandal to get rid of Herman Cain.
So when Trump was accused, republicans no longer cared.

The sex scandal card has been burned by both parties.

Republicans approve of convicted sexual abusers.

So, the jury basically came to the conclusion that Trump grabbed her by the pussy then.

Bill Clinton wouldn't last today with the scandals and you know it. He only made it out because it was 20 years ago and #metoo wasn't a thing

Wow, convicted sexual abuser sounds pretty bad. My understanding, though, is that because this was reported by a major online media company, one could not be held liable for believing it to be an accurate descriptor of Mr. Trump and saying as much. I haven't been following this story much, but I'll default to trusting this source and conclude that this could definitely be correct and share it widely, especially with any swing voters in my life.

This verdict demonstrates that getting away with things for a long time doesn't mean a person will continue to get away with them forever.  And I suspect it won't be the only verdict that demonstrates it in the case of Donald Trump.

Surpised that all of them think it's unlikely that he raped her. She was pretty clear and explicit that he did.

Not to be overly pedantic, but again, it’s a civil suit, so he’s not a convicted anything.

Not surprised they said no to the rape case since they're harder to prove in court, but the yes to sexual abuse is still a pretty BFD. Doesn't this mean he'd have to register as a sex offender?

Civil suit so no, but he is a convicted sexual predator.

Not really. I mean definitely no being registered sex offender, and to use technical lawyers I wouldn't call him a convicted sex offender.

But yes, a jury found at least more likely than not that he sexually assaulted a woman.

It’s terrible, but if we’re being honest, it’s true.

No genius. If we're being honest you're an awful apologist for sexual assault and really need to sit down and a corner and be quiet during the rest of this conversation.

If you follow the reporting (Adam Klasfeld of Law & Crime News, https://twitter.com/KlasfeldReports, is one excellent source) it seems clear that there was plenty of evidence supporting sexual assault, but that there was signficant room for doubt concerning the specific act of rape.  I don't want to get too explicit in the forum.

If the Trump campaign and Republicans are going to argue to the public that there is some difference between sexual abuse and rape and that this is just a civil case then that is a losing argument. Sexual abuse is never a winning or neutral issue for a candidate to have attached to them, especially with a judgement of any sort.

I appreciate the double-think going on in Trump world right now that 1) This whole thing was rigged and he was never going to be cleared because everyone involved is out to get Trump and 2) Haha, he didn't rape her! Total exoneration!

Remember when the Mueller report came out and they basically said the same thing? This is their canned response to any Trump legal issues. He's innocent of absolutely everything and has, in fact, never done anything wrong in his entire life.

at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that this statement is true: Trump was found guilty of sexual abuse.

I wouldn't even be surprised if CNN barely brings it up during his appearance there tomorrow.

CORRECTION: Fox News has commented on the case in at least one segment.
