Trump lost on all charges except the rape charge. Wow.

Apparently, she's been awarded $5m.

Not surprised they said no to the rape case since they're harder to prove in court, but the yes to sexual abuse is still a pretty BFD. Doesn't this mean he'd have to register as a sex offender?

Civil suit so no, but he is a convicted sexual predator.

Since the Manhattan indictment forever Trump can do no wrong and everything is a Deep State conspiracy. It should hurt him. It would obliterate anyone else's chances. If anything this helps him.

At the risk of playing devil's advocate, what was the actual evidence presented for the claim? (Haven't kept up with the case) Was there physical evidence or all witness testimony?

Approx $3 million in damages for defamation.
Approx $2 million in damages for the civil battery claim.

Total = About $5 million.

Or what Trump would say, five small loans.

Mr. President, raise your hand if a jury didn't found you're a sexual abuser:

Inb4 the blue avatars explain how this is actually good for Trump.
I can see that this will be easy:

"the jurors did not agree with Carroll’s allegation that the former president raped her"

This will be the focus, that he is declared innocent of that charge.

No voter will switch on the basis of the "battery" and "defamation" stuff in a civil suit.

"Rape" is likely defined narrowly in this context as forced penile penetration, and they found while there wasn't enough proof to say he did that specific action, they didn't declare him innocent. They did find there was enough proof to say he sexually and physically abused her however.

Anyway, he's now legally about as innocent as OJ. No criminal conviction, but for the first time in history we have a president (and major party presidential frontrunner) who was found by a court of law to have in all likelihood committed violent crimes.

In the context of this case it effectively does. Or rather, it means a preponderance of the evidence indicated it.

Being found guilty for battery and sexual assault is not a “nothing burger”. What a terrible thing to say.

From what I can tell now that the trial ended it was a "he said, she said" situation, which is typical for civil suits over defamation stuff.

That's why the rich and famous avoid saying stuff about unknown people in public , they could be sued for it, or why N.D.A.'s have become typical.

You can't just go on TV and say "Wayne my neighbour is an ugly jerk" for example if you are lets say Harrison Ford.

It’s terrible, but if we’re being honest, it’s true.
