Though in theory I support reunification under the Republic of China, for now I support the status quo I guess. I really wish the Nationalists had won, so many things would be better if that happened, for both China and the world.
But one argument against that is that the Nationalists didn't win.
A big part of that is that they were not wise or just rulers of the mainland.
That's not why they didn't win though. They were on the verge of winning when they were suddenly attacked from behind by a powerful archipelagic empire to the east. After eight years of being raped by said archipelagic empire until the latter's final defeat, the Communists had by that time a powerful sponsor directly bordering China from the north, and which provided the safe harbor in the north, which at that time was not only the home of the vast majority of Chinese industry and economic output, but the direction from which China has most frequently been conquered throughout its history, especially since the late Imperial period.
In short, the good guys don't always win in history.
