Quote
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — LaJoia Broughton, a 41-year-old small-business owner, considers herself a fan of President Joe Biden.

He’s provided opportunities for Black-owned business while bringing integrity to the White House, she said. Her decision for 2024 is not in doubt.

“Biden has proven himself in the last few years, and I’ll be voting for him in the next election,” said Broughton, who owns a lobbying and public affairs firm in Columbia, South Carolina’s capital city.

Destiny Humphreys is less enthusiastic. The 22-year-old senior at South Carolina State University, the state’s only public historically Black college or university, or HBCU, said she’s disappointed in the president, feeling his accomplishments have so far not lived up to his promises.

Biden needs to focus more on inflation and creating jobs and less about Ukraine, and maybe in a second term look into something about reparations...

I haven’t read the full article, but based on the snippet you posted that’s not really a change from 2020. Black voters didn’t enthusiastically back Biden last cycle, *older* Black voters did. Young black voters under ~35 supported Bernie.

I watched the video in the article. It matches up with what we know already. Older Black voters are generally more enthusiastic about Biden and younger Black voters are less enthusiastic or not enthusiastic about Biden at all.

One college girl said that she thought that Biden would "go beyond" the promises that he made during the 2020 campaign, so she's disappointed in Biden. However, this doesn't really make sense. Presidents aren't absolute monarchs who can just impose their will whenever they want. Congress and the Supreme Court exist. Also, radical change is not possible in just four years (and Biden promised a "return to normalcy").

What do you think black voters over 60 feel when they hear about reparations?

I'm honestly so sick of this sentiment from voters, and it's prevalent not just among younger but older (30-50) too. People really need act like they never took a US Govt course or something as if the president can just snap his fingers. It's exhausting.

I don't know.

No lol. Some people thinking that the president can just "do anything" was a thing long before the 2008 recession.
